About Form Paglu
Form Paglu is a set of free tools for getting a file past an upload box. It exists because that last step of an application, at eleven at night, should not be the part that stops you.
Who makes it
Form Paglu is built and looked after by one independent developer from a tier 3 city in India, not by a company. The email address on the contact page reaches that same person, who reads every message.
Why it was built
Anyone who has filled in an Indian exam or government form knows the pattern. The form is done, the fee is ready, and then the photo is 4 MB and the box says 50 KB. Or the signature must be exactly 140 by 60 pixels. Or the certificate must be a PDF under 300 KB. It is eleven at night, the deadline is tomorrow, and the only tools that come up in a search want you to upload your photograph and your signature to a stranger's server.
That last part is what this site was built to avoid. You should not have to hand your identity documents to an unknown website to make a file smaller, because making a file smaller does not require a server at all. Modern browsers can do the whole job on the device in your hand.
How it is different
Your file never leaves your device. There is no upload, no account, no email address, and no queue. Open a tool, add a file, get the result. It works in airplane mode, which is the simplest proof that nothing is being sent anywhere.
The tools also tell you the truth about what they did. Instead of "Success!", you get the real size of the real file, its dimensions, and a list of exactly what changed. If a target cannot be reached, it says so plainly rather than quietly handing back something too big.
The name
"Paglu" is an affectionate word for someone a bit mad. Anyone who has fought a portal upload box at midnight knows the feeling. It is the only non-English word on the site.
How it stays free
The site is static files, with no servers to pay for, so the running costs are small: mainly the domain name and the other costs of keeping it online, plus the time it takes to build and fix the tools. A few clearly labelled adverts at the bottom of some pages help cover that. There are never more than two on a page, never any next to a download button, and none at all on the home page or on a tool page. There will never be a paid tier for the core tools.
What it will never do
- Upload your files, or ask you to.
- Ask for an account, an email address or a phone number.
- Claim that a portal will definitely accept your file.
- Invent a requirement. Where a form's rules matter, check the official notification.
Getting in touch
If something is broken, or a tool you need is missing, thecontact page explains how to tell us. If you want to understand how the processing works, there is an honest explanation on how this works.
